Check who is providing care
A familiar brand name is not enough to identify the company providing treatment. Ask for the local legal name, registration details, treatment address and current clinical licence, including the scope relevant to your proposed treatment.
Compare these details across the contract, invoice, website and clinic correspondence. If several websites use the same clinic name, ask which is operated by the medical provider and which belongs to a marketing or coordination company.
Where possible, verify licence documents with the issuing authority. A photograph of a certificate on a website is not the same as an independent check of current status.
Know your clinical team
Ask who will assess your history, prescribe treatment, perform procedures and oversee the laboratory. Request credentials and clarify whether named clinicians practise at that location.
Check whether doctors speak your preferred language. If an interpreter is involved, ask who provides interpretation during consent, procedures and follow-up, and whether the fee is included.
Ask what success rates measure
IVF success depends on individual circumstances; a single website percentage cannot predict your outcome. Ask the clinic to explain the relevant evidence for people with a similar treatment situation.
- Does the figure describe pregnancy or live birth?
- Is it per cycle started, egg collection or embryo transfer?
- What period and sample size does it cover?
- Does it separate donor eggs from patients’ own eggs?
- Can age groups and repeat transfers be distinguished?
When figures use different definitions, do not rank clinics by those percentages. KGIVF does not publish a success-rate leaderboard.
Compare the contract and costs
Request an itemised quote and written terms covering cancellation, unused services, storage, repeat treatment and dispute handling. Check that the recipient of a payment matches the entity identified in the agreed arrangement.
For donor or surrogacy arrangements, medical availability and legal eligibility are separate questions. Obtain the appropriate legal review instead of relying on a sales description.
Evaluate everyday communication
A useful test is whether a clinic answers specific questions clearly and consistently. Ask for a named contact, expected response times, an out-of-hours clinical contact and a process for requesting your records.
Build a shortlist, take the same consultation checklist to each provider and keep their written answers together.
